B-Jazz International Contest is a renowned international competition for young jazz musicians (- 30), from all over the world. Ambitious musicians and ensembles get a chance to face an international jury and an attentive audience.
Out of 105 submissions coming from 26 countries, two finalists were selected: Phil Meadows Project (UK) by the jury and Marithé Van der Aa Quartet (B) by popular vote. They will compete with four bands from the international network of B-Jazz: Salim Daahoud Quintet (ES) through Getxo Jazz Festival, Hoera. (BE) as the winner of Jong Jazztalent Gent, Sebastiaan van Bavel Trio (NL) delegated by Amersfoort Jazz (NL) and Vittorio Solimene Trio (IT) selected by the Saint Louis College of Music (IT).
In two sessions, the six finalists will compete for the Grand Prix Albert Michiels. Each evening tops of with a free Late Night Jam: a rhythm section will play with the musicians who are present.
